Dr. Montserrat Bernabeu, recognized with the Professional Excellence Award of the College of Doctors of Barcelona

Dr. Montserrat Bernabeu has been honored this year with the Professional Excellence Award given by the College of Doctors of Barcelona (CoMB). This recognition is due to his outstanding professional career, characterized by commitment, honesty, altruism, integrity and excellence.

Dr. Bernabeu, current care director and co-director of the Institut Guttmann, is a doctor specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. From 1997 to 2018, she held the position of Head of the Brain Injury Unit and subsequently assumed the role of Care Director of both the Neurorehabilitation Hospital located in Badalona and the Brain Health Institute in the city of Barcelona, known as Guttmann Barcelona. From March 2022, she assumes the executive direction of the Institut Guttmann Foundation, together with the manager Montse Caldés, becoming the first case of female co-direction of a care organization in our country.

As a researcher, she has actively participated in numerous European projects focused on new technologies applied to rehabilitation. She also stands out as the director of the ICF TBI Core Sets project (International Functional Classification International for the definition of the Main Indicators in the treatment of head trauma), developed in collaboration with the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich, Germany.

Every year, since 2004, the College of Doctors of Barcelona (CoMB) has awarded Professional Excellence Awards to 42 professionals from various fields of medicine, such as hospital medicine, primary care, public and mental health, social health care, biomedical research, medical education and medical humanities. In addition, these awards recognize 4 multidisciplinary healthcare teams that have stood out throughout the year for their professional work and teamwork.

The award ceremony will take place on November 27 at the AXA Auditorium.
