Episode 6 - Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment

According to the World Health Organisation, more than 55 million people suffer from dementia worldwide. This number is constantly rising due to the increase in life expectancy. "Dementia" is a global concept that implies the loss of functions such as memory, attention, language, the ability to see the world or to control impulses. In our environment, Alzheimer's is the most common cause of cognitive impairment. It is a disease that affects the whole environment of the patient and which evolves differently depending on factors that are not yet fully understood. What therapeutic options are available for cognitive decline? What advances are expected to be made in the coming years? We will meet Josep Maria, who takes care of his wife, Rosa, and we will attend memory and music therapy sessions to try to prevent cognitive impairment.
