Guttmann promotes the territorial deployment of the Catalan Table for Employment in Adapted Sport with David Bonvehí and Accesport

Guttmann, in conjunction with Accesport, has launched the territorial rollout of the Catalan Roundtable for Employment in Adapted Sports within the framework of the Second Goal project, promoted by David Bonvehí, General Director of Social and Solidarity Economy and Cooperativism of the Government of Catalonia.

The project includes four working sessions distributed across different regions with the aim of diagnosing, co-creating, and validating training and employment pathways for people with disabilities involved in adapted sports. The program's first kickoff session took place at the Guttmann Hospital de Nerurorehabilitació and served to formalize the Roundtable's establishment and place the project on the public agenda. This meeting, which included former athletes such as Quico Tur, Pol Makuri, Enric Sans, and Ricard Hernández, highlighted the difficulty of maintaining a professional life after retiring from sports and the challenges of combining this with receiving a contributory pension.

The following sessions will take place in Sant Fruitós de Bages and Olot, where participants will work on the territorial diagnosis and co-creation of the pathways, incorporating local stakeholders and assessing the model's viability in diverse environments. The process will culminate in a final session in Guttmann, where the results will be presented and validated.

This initiative aligns particularly well with SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, as it promotes the creation of training and employment pathways to facilitate access for people with disabilities to real employment opportunities in the field of adapted sports. It is also directly related to Article 27 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which recognizes the right to work on an equal basis with others and access to an open, inclusive, and accessible labor market.

In this sense, the project contributes to making this right effective by addressing barriers that still exist in the professional continuity of people linked to adapted sport, while reinforcing its applicable and transferable nature, promoting territorial alliances and contributing to generating real opportunities for employment in this field.
