I entered the Institut Guttmann on 7th December 2017 after sustaining a spinal cord injury at the C7 level. Once I had passed through the most acute phase, I had to take another step to see how far I could improve and to acquire tools to help me get back to the most independent lifestyle possible.
At the Institut Guttmann I shared my daily life with people who were in a situation similar to mine and in a relaxed environment, accompanied by professionals who managed to make the gym a fun place. All of this and the fact that I was gradually achieving new challenges and learning to be self-reliant made the process of adapting to a life in a wheelchair faster and less traumatic. I have made very good friends at the Institut Guttmann and have learnt so much about values that have made me a better person.
