Guttmann Symposia of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in Neurorehabilitation: Technology, Science and Movement

The Guttmann Symposia of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in Neurorehabilitation: Technology, Science and Movement took place this Saturday with the participation of 45 attendees interested in learning more about our healthcare model.

After the welcome by Ms. Montse Caldés, co-director of the Institut Guttmann, the inaugural conference was given by Dr. Narda Murillo, head of Functional Rehabilitation, who reviewed the evolution of the concept of neurorehabilitation over the years. She explained how the Guttmann Institute works from a multimodal and multidisciplinary perspective, integrating the latest technologies to improve the functionality and autonomy of patients.

The workshops and practical sessions given by the physiotherapists and occupational therapists of Functional Rehabilitation generated great interest among the attendees. In small groups, they were able to learn firsthand about the functional and technological approach we offer at the hospital in areas such as aquatic therapy, gait training with exoskeletons, sitting and mobility, care for people with altered states of consciousness or upper limb work in stroke patients, among others.

With this Conference we contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially with SDGs 3, 4 and 17 by promoting specialized training, quality care and collaboration between professionals.
