Active Life, a programme for empowerment, community training and starting independent living, is celebrating its first edition from the 2nd to the 15th of May. The  programme is aimed at participants with spinal cord injurie and who want to start an independent and active life.

Participants in the 1st edition of Active Life will live in the Guttmann Barcelona Life apartments, located in the Guttmann Barcelona building, and for two weeks they will carry out a variety of activities and proposals to work on their autonomy both at home and on the street, the management of the wheelchair and the participation in cultural, sports and leisure activities in a standard way.

In the early days, they developed their skills in a wheelchair and transfer management workshop, they went shopping in the neighborhood, they cooked and they made use of public transport to visit the Gothic Quarter and Barceloneta. They also have received a talk about the independent living philosophy.

They will continue with many more activities, always accompanied by experts and monitors who are also people who live with the consequences of a spinal cord injury and that have an independent and full life.
