What do you need while in the hospital?
Each patient must bring clothes, personal items and personal hygiene items they may need. During the stay in the hospital, the patient will have a closet for storage in the room. The Institut Guttmann recommends that the clothing be as comfortable as possible: tracksuit or similar type of clothing, cotton underwear and tennis shoes (preferably with velcro). It is important to mark the clothes with the patient's name, for easy identification in case of loss.
Washing clothes is, in general, the responsibility of the patient's family or friends. A coin-operated washer and dryer are available in the building. There is also an outside laundry service for which the nurses will provide more information upon request.
For outpatients, the hospital will reserve a locker in the functional rehabilitation area. It is recommended to always bring a full change of clothing.
Valuables or money
For safety, patients should not have too many valuables during hospital stay, such as jewellery or cash. Patients are recommended to trust these items to family or friends, or they could request to deposit items in the safe located in the Administration department. The hospital will not be responsible under any circumstances for valuables or money that have not been deposited in the safe.
