Post Covid-19 Rehabilitation Programme for patients with complex neurological sequelae.
What is it?
A large number of patients present complications associated with having suffered Covid-19 after overcoming the acute phase of the coronavirus. The sequelae of Covid-19 are not only obvious to the naked eye and do not only affect our physical body, and it has been seen that relatively often they also affect memory, behaviour, mood and the ability to perform daily activities.
The Institut Guttmann initially launched a Programme for the Neurorehabilitation of post-Covid sequelae with the aim of early detection and treatment of these sequelae in everybody who had had the disease regardless of how serious their illness. Now, one year later, we are taking advantage of this experience in treating sequelae in post-Covid patients along with our characteristic approach to neurological patients, and offer a programme specifically aimed at post-Covid patients who present complex neurological sequelae.
Who is the neurorehabilitation programme for patients with post Covid-19 sequelae aimed at?
The Post-Covid programme is aimed at patients who have already overcome the acute phase of Covid-19 but who still require hospitalisation and present complex neurological sequelae and problems in three spheres (motor/neurological, respiratory and cognitive/behavioural) derived from the disease, and who require a specialised, intensive and holistic intervention. Patients must be referred by a primary care doctor or specialist physician.
