The Institut Guttmann's 'Beines de Mielina' podcast, a finalist in the Sonor Awards for Catalan podcasts

The Beines de Mielina podcast, co-produced by the Institut Guttmann and Badalona Comunicació, is one of the finalists in the third edition of the Sonor Awards for podcasts in Catalan, organised by Catalunya Ràdio and La Mira. The co-production is up for the award in the Best Branded Content Podcast category, along with L'Espurna (Festival Espurnes Barroques) and Paraules habitables (La Xarxa).

The Sonor Awards recognise the best podcasts broadcast during the previous year. The jury has chosen three finalists in each category from over 200 entries received for this year's edition. The winners will be announced at the ceremony to be held on Monday 29 April at the 1899 Auditorium at Spotify Camp Nou.

Beines de Mielina was launched on 18 May 2023 and aims to disseminate the latest advances in the field of neuroscience, promote healthy lifestyles and early diagnosis of pathologies of the nervous system and foster an inclusive society. The podcast consists of 10 episodes, each of which focuses on a pathology, disorder or field of work at the Institut Guttmann. Based on 1 or 2 patient stories, they deal with topics of great interest to the public, such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment, research into spinal cord injury, language development disorder, depression and minority diseases.

Last November, Beines de Mielina won the Pilar Casanova prize for the Best Communication Action, awarded by the Catalan Association of Journalists. The 10 episodes can be found on YouTube (with subtitles, accessible to the hearing impaired), Spotify, Apple Podcasts and on the Institut Guttmann website.
