An individual care model
One of the unique characteristics of the Institut Guttmann is its working method, based on the ability and expertise of an interdisciplinary team that deals with patient care in a holistic and comprehensive manner, always seeking the involvement and active participation of families in the rehabilitation process.
When a patient enters the hospital, they are assigned a team consisting of a doctor, who will coordinate the treatment team, a nurse, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a social worker, and a clinical psychologist or neuropsychologist based on the characteristics of the case. These people are responsible for the care process, although many other professionals will intervene throughout the process.
Through regular joint sessions, the rehabilitation team establishes a therapeutic intervention plan, sets goals and keeps track of the patient's progress. Thus, neurorehabilitation becomes a comprehensive, personalised and dynamic process, able to achieve greater efficiency in each person being served.
