The Institut Guttmann has participated in the 6th International Congress of Aquatic Activities, an annual event, which brings together experts from the area of aquatic education, special physical conditioning and aquatic therapy. It is organized by the Miguel Hernández University of Elche with the support of the Iberoamerican Association of Aquatic Education, Special education and Hydrotherapy. In this edition the congress took place in Elche on 30 June and 1-2 July 2017.
On Friday the first work visit was done in the works of the new project "Guttmann - La Sagrera", which is already a reality. A working group formed by the management team and professionals from different areas could know the current situation of the project closely, in order to begin working together to promote the inauguration of the new building prepared to provide the best service for people to which it will dedicate his activity.
Eurecat has awarded the Research and Innovation Office of the Institut Guttmann in the category of Innovative Research Center "for its constant effort to incorporate the new technologies in the service of the processes of rehabilitation and the advancement of neuroscience and the great impact Social achievement ". The CIMA Foundation (International Center for Ancient Music by its Catalan acronym) was held on May 29 a concert of early music in the hospital. The performers, two musicians refugees from Syria, the singer and lutenist Waed Bouhassoun and the flutist (ney) Moslem Rahal, offered two small recitals in the area of functional rehabilitation, in order to introduce music in neurorehabilitation activity of patients.
This initiative is part of the Orpheus’ Dream . Ways of Memory and Intercultural Dialogue" in honor of the Syrian people and in collaboration with the City Council.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Labor Relations Council of Catalonia has chosen the Institut Guttmann to make the annual visit to an organization of interest for its work in social responsibility. Today the group has been received at the hospital facilities, where they have been able to get to know the Foundation first-hand and closely, especially in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
On Saturday, June 10th, thanks to good weather and wind conditions, users of Sports & Life Guttmann Club, all of them former patients of the Institut Guttmann suffering from spinal cord injury or multiple sclerosis, were able to enjoy the exceptional and wonderful sensation of flying In paramotor as well as discover, in bird's eye, the magnificent natural environment that make up the Àger valley, the Montsec mountain range and the Mont Rebei gorge.
The Institut Guttmann hosted yesterday, June 1, this annual meeting which, this year, has focused on road education for safe mobility in the face of new forms of displacement, and of uses and customs of the road space from the perspective of Young. L’Institut Guttmann ha publicat ja el número 93 de la revista Sobre Ruedas, sobre neurorrehabilitació i vida amb diversitat funcional, i que en aquesta edició centra els seus articles principals en la neurociència i la neuroètica. El tema, que va ser el protagonista de les darreres Jornades Tècniques de l’Institut Guttmann, al 2016, planteja l’autonomia personal com un dret, i la complexitat de com preservar-lo en persones amb afectacions cognitives i conductuals. Bioètica, apoderament i vida independent són alguns dels temes analitzats.
Ms. Zhang Haidi, chairwoman of the Federation of the Disabled of China, President of the Paralympic Committee of China, and President of the Organizing Committee of the Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2022 visited on May 20th the Institut Guttmann. Ms. Haidi came accompanied by a delegation head of the Committee of Internationalization of the Federation of the Disabled of China and by Dr. Josep A. Pujante, Director of the International Department of Health.
With the aim of seeing how the activities carried out with robots help and stimulate the therapeutic advances of patients with a neurological disability, the Institut Guttmann organizes with the Garbí Pere Vergés School of Badalona, the 1st Working Day of Robotics and Technology.
