The Institut Guttmann, one more year, has celebrated the arrival of these holidays with Christmas celebrations for everyone!
Patients, relatives and professionals shared an intimate afternoon with the performance of Sa Buada Gospel Choir and hot chocolate.
The youngest, our children patients, arrived after school for the party, where children's songs and carols of the coral they put them to dance, and where after the chocolate Santa Claus and Caga Tió filled them with gifts and illusion.
The Institut Guttmann participated at the annual event of the Economy of the Common Good organized by the Association EBC Catalunya and that took place on 13th December under the title "We make community, we create the future!".
The Institut Guttmann and Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol Strategic Alliance, "Leadership and Systemic Commitment", has been awarded in the 8th Management Innovation Awards 2017 by the Unió Catalana d'Hospitals.
Dra. M. Victoria Amargós, Assistant Coordinator of the Institut Guttmann and Dr. Oriol Estrada, director of transversal processes and territorial alliances of Germans Trias i Pujol, received the prize at the institutional event that took place at the headquarters of the Union.
The Institut Guttmann has again received the visit of a group of athletes from La Masia of FC Barcelona, in this case the Basketball team B.
16 players have been able to visit the facilities of the hospital, to know first hand the activity that we carry out and share a fun time of sport with functional rehabilitation patients. They have also been able to hear the testimonies of some patients with spinal cord injury and brain damage.
The Institut Guttmann will participate in the Global Road Safety campaign promoted by UNICEF and Abertis, which aims to implement prevention programs for children in road accidents in developing countries. It is estimated that annually there are approximately 500,000 deaths of minors produced in different types of displacements and about 600,000 spinal cord injuries.
FC Barcelona, as part of its "Masía solidaria" initiative, has visited the hospital facilities with a group of Barça Lassa B boys. They have been able to share a fun sports time with functional rehabilitation patients and the have also received a talk about the activity that takes place in the Institut Guttmann and the testimony of an athlete with a disability due to a spinal cord injury.
The school yard is still a place where the inclusion and participation of all children, especially children with disabilities, is a handicap. Getting the children to play collaboratively and inclusively (regardless of their abilities) is not easy if the group is not run by teachers or monitors. For this reason, the Institut Guttmann launches a new pedagogical line in the website "Dofins de Colors" in order to promote precisely this: inclusive recreational time for all children.
This Saturday the team of professionals of "Guttmann, NeuroPersonalClinic" visited the works of what will be the next year their new workplace. The group was able to see first hand how the new work spaces will be, such as the consultation and therapy rooms, the new gym, the pool and the rest of the complex that will include other complementary services, such as the apartments for the promotion of the independent life of people with disabilities, Guttmann Barcelona Life and Neuroclinics.
The patients at the Institut Guttmann were surprised at the sports hall of the hospital with the visit of the professional tennis player Tommy Robredo.
First, adult patients with different types of injuries enjoyed an afternoon playing with the tennis player, demonstrating that it is possible to take advantage of all the benefits of this sport, regardless of the capabilities of each one. Subsequently, upon the arrival of child neurorehabilitation patients in out-of-school hours, he played a great deal of time with the children, giving them an unforgettable time!
