    Last Sunday, March 12, the Zurich Marathon of Barcelona, ​​a challenge of 42km along the streets of the city, was celebrated once again. A group of professionals from the Institut Guttmann joined it for representing the inclusion and helping two children of pediatric rehabilitation to achieve the challenge.

    Josep M. Ramírez, director of the Institut Guttmann; Jordi Portabella, director of the Research and Knowledge Area of the Obra Social “la Caixa”; Álvaro Pascual-Leone, scientific director of the project and Antoni Andreu, Health Research director of the Generalitat de Catalunya have presented today the Barcelona Brain Health Initiative (BBHI) at the Institut Guttmann.

  • Skiing with Sports&Life Guttmann Club

    On Saturday 25th February almost 30 people, ex patients and families, enjoyed a sunny day in the snow, accompanied by a professional of the Institut Guttmann and monitors of the activity.

    With different technical aids, depending of individual capacities, all participants were allowed to ski and permit the benefits of the sport practice in the natural surroundings. Adapted sports have become a powerful therapeutic tool to improve health, the degree of functional autonomy and the self-esteem.

  • FAD Award for Best Information on Actions in Social Responsibility

    The Institut Guttmann has been recognized by Avedis Donabedian Foundation, with the Award for Best Information on Actions in Social Responsibility in Health Institutions, for the publication of its 1st Corporate Social Responsibility Report. The award was received on Wednesday, January 11, by director Dr. Josep M Ramirez, at the gala of the 28th edition of the Awards for Quality in Health, at the Palace of Catalan Music.

    The Institut Guttmann have recently purchased some new Virtual Reality equipment for cognitive and motor training after stroke, traumatic brain injury and other pathologies and neurological processes.

  • Ski trip with pediatric patients

    The 30th December took place the traditional Christmas Skiing for patients of pediatric rehabilitation. Accompanied by their family and monitors, children enjoyed a different day, outdoors, in a all-day skiing that they will never forget!

    The Institut Guttmann organizes sports outings regularly to the natural surroundings for people with disabilities (adults, youth and children) so that they can be introduced to various sports and play them in an outdoor and different environment, contributing to their health and state of mind.

    Last Sunday morning, a group of children patients who do rehabilitation in the hospital could enjoy a very special day participating in a football match with soccer players Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal at the Miniestadi of Futbol Club Barcelona.

    After passing, one by one, between a very special corridor of the hand of Puyol and Abidal while their team-mate encouraged them, our pediatric patients played the soccer match with the two players, each one captain of a different team.

    Institut Guttmann has been recognized for the second time with the EMAS Certification (Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) as a sign of their commitment to maintaining an exemplary environmental management beyond the regulatory layers.

    EMAS recognizes the continuous improvement of the Institution in the verification of the controls and audits in matters of environmental responsibility.
