The Institut Guttmann has been the scene of shooting of Dani Rovira's new film, "100 metros", produced by Filmax and directed by Marcel Barrena.
"100 metros" is inspired by the true story of Ramón Arroyo, a successful businessman who diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis, and decides to explore the limits of overcoming, deciding to face one of the toughest athletic events, the Ironman.
In the Institut Guttmann, the sport is fully integrated into the rehabilitation process of people with disabilities. Adapted sports has become a potent therapeutic ally to improve their health, their degree of functional autonomy, self-esteem and relationship skills; circumstances that favor better social integration.
The program "Saber vivir" of Televisión Española made a monograph on "The feelings of the brain" last Thursday 17 March in which Antonia Enseñat, neuropsychologist at the Institut Guttmann and Dr. Joan Deus, head of the NeuroPsyco Social Area, explain the effects of a cerebrovascular accident (stroke) and how the consequences may affect knowledge and emotions.
The Institut Guttmann appears in the position number 7 in the Twitter ranking that every year Socialmediatica publishes. The study analyzes the Twitter accounts of all hospitals in Spain and made the ranking based on the number of followers.
Today we have surpassed 6,000 followers, but a part from the followers, Socialmediatica analyzes other parameters such as the rate of publication of tweets/day, the annual increase of followers, who in 2015 was nearly 2,000 followers, and that our fans are 62% women and 38% men.
Dr. Rosa Terré, rehabilitation doctor of the Brain Injury Unit and coordinator of dysphagia, at Institut Guttmann gave an interview to IM Medical hospitalier.
In the interview, Dr. Terré explains how is the care of a newcomer to the Institut Guttmann: "the first thing we do is an overall assessment to determine deficits. Then, we orient the treatment to improve or compensate these deficits with the aim of achieving a functional improvement. Once valued each cognitive, motor, communication or swallowing problems, we try to reeducate them with activities of daily living".
On 27th November the Institut Guttmann celebrated its 50th anniversary, coinciding with the date of the old hospital inauguration, same day at 1965. An emotive institutional ceremony in the gorgeous Oval Room of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), brought together more than a thousand people related with the organization, including professionals, former patients, Friends of the foundation, Friendly Companies, associations and authorities.

The video of 50th anniversary of the Institut Guttmann has won the 1st Prize at the Festival Inclús, about audiovisual and disability, in the category of Institutions. These prizes, with international vocation, are recognized both in the world of documentary and in fiction, always aiming to give visibility to audiovisual works related to disability issues and to provide a different point of view.
