    Last Thursday, 18th August, 10 patients (6 adults and 4 children), some of them accompanied by their families, enjoyed an outdoor activity, kayaking, as part of the rehabilitation process.

  • Adapted paddle surf in Cabrera de Mar

    This Saturday 13th August, some users of the Institut Guttmann and their families enjoyed a wonderful day outdoor, practising paddle surf and getting the most of a summer, sunny day. 

    The activity was in Cabrera de Mar and has the collaboration of Álvaro Bayona, former patient of the Institut Guttmann and pioneering of adapted paddle surf, and also with the Cub Nàutic Cabrera de Mar.

    The Catalan Association of Protocol and International Relations (ACPRI) has awarded the Institut Guttmann with the Prize 2016 for the whole series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the hospital and especially the organization of some events of particular significance where institutional relations and protocol have an impact or significant impact to society.

    The Institut Guttmann has presented, at a press conference, together with the Minister of the Department of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Dolors Bassa, the book "Social Innovation and Disability". The publication issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the institution reflects the conclusions of the discussions carried in Girona, Lleida and Barcelona last year and in which more than 400 people with disabilities, professionals and more than twenty associations.

    Yesterday, Thursday 14th July, took place the graduation ceremony of the students of the Master in Neurorehabilitation and Master in Neurorehabilitation and neuropsychological and cognitive stimulation .

    About 30 students gathered their official titles in a graduation ceremony inaugurated by the Director of the Institut Guttmann, Ms. Rosser Fernandez. Then Dr. Xavier Navarro, professor at the UAB and professor of the Neurorehabilitation Master, made a speech to attendees, and concluded the ceremony, Dr. Joan Vidal, director of the Institut Guttmann teaching.

    The Institut Guttmann has published the Social Balance Report 2015 that reflects the healthcare activity and the scientific, educational and social activity carried out during 2015.

    The Report is an example of transparency and willingness of the Institut Guttmann to show its annual activity in the different areas in which it operates.

    This week two delegations of representatives of Armenia and Kazakhstan have visited the Institut Guttmann, headed by the ambassador of Kazakhstan, Mr. Bakyt Dyussenbayev, and Mr. Avet Adonts, Ambassador of Armenia.

  • Albert Llovera exhibits the truck he drove in Dakar to patients of the Institut Guttmann

    Guttmann Institute received Albert Llovera, who is a rally driver ex-patient of the hospital. He has become as an example of overcoming and of challenging limits because of all achievements he has got during his sportive career. The last one is to succeed in finishing 2016 Dakar Rally.

    A group of patients of the Institut Guttmann joined the last 19th May a workshop in the Apple Shop at the Shopping Centre “La Maquinista” (Barcelona). They were accompanied by their families and an Occupational Therapist of the Institut Guttmann, in order to test different accessibility tools of Apple products.

    As University Institute of Neurorehabilitation attached to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), mission of Guttmann Institute is to develop academic, scientific and research issues in neuroscience in general as well as in neurorehabilitation and technology applied to personal autonomy in particular.
