The Guttmann Neurorehabilitation Institute Foundation is a private, community beneficial, nondenominational, non-profit making organization resulting from the commitment to solidarity of Catalan people, faithful to the principles of humaneness and to a holistic approach to the individual, governed by its foundational plans as collected in its By-laws, championed by the Trust, supervised by the Protectorat de Fundacions de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Regional Government of Catalonia’s Board of Foundations).

"The main goal of Guttmann Neurorehabilitation Institute Private Foundation, a non-profit making organization, is promoting, boosting and achieving the comprehensive rehabilitation of people with spinal injury, acquired brain damage or any other severe neurological disability, giving them the necessary support and the most convenient services for their successful community reintegration and efficiently contributing to the full recognition of their rights and actual equal opportunities."

Article 7 of the Foundation’s By-laws

The Foundation was incorporated on June 6th ,2001 on the decision made by the Trust of Institut Guttmann Foundation on December 15th, 2000. Next, on April 25th, 2002, it approved of a partial splitting in favour of Guttmann Neurorehabilitation Institute Private Foundation for acute patients hospitalization and further education purposes, which was executed by public document passed on November 28th, 2002.
